Are Kennels Good for dogs?
Both professional pet trainers and veterinarians have acknowledged the benefits of used kennels. Although you may feel guilty for leaving your dog in a kennel, the enclosed space creates shelter for your dog and allows them to rest and relax. Sleeping out in the open, especially in a new place, can cause a lot of fear and anxiety. It is a safe place to offer your dog from the start. Kennels help satisfy a dog’s natural instinct to be in a den, while also promoting healthy behaviors in them as well.
Even though we always supervise each dog at night, they need a place to sleep that is all their own. We encourage kennel use for safety reasons, security reasons, house training, prevention of destructive behavior, and to get used to while traveling. Kennels are humane when used for the right reasons and in the correct way.
Benefits of Kennels
Your dog will enjoy having privacy and security for when they are tired, stressed, or in need of a break from others. Dogs by nature like to maintain the area they sleep in. By having them sleep in a kennel, they learn to control their elimination behavior and will associate the outdoors as the correct place to relieve themselves. If you have a dog that is having issues with bathroom training, this is a great place to start. It also means you will not wake up to messes in the house. If you want to take your dog on trips, having them get used to traveling in a kennel will allow you to go on more adventures together. They are much safer in a kennel during car rides and will sleep better away from home because they have their own private space they are already familiar with. Kennels and crates are especially beneficial in an emergency situation. If you need to evacuate your dog, having them see their kennel as a place for safety means they will cooperate and not run away to hide, saving crucial time. Overall, kennels are safe for your dog and will give you peace of mind.
Why Boarding Your Cat is Better
Although it may seem like a good idea to leave your cat at home because they are self-sufficient, hire a pet sitter, or ask a friend to stop by once or twice, they are much safer if they are being watched the entire time you are gone. We make sure they eat their food, have clean water, and have a fresh litter box. You also want to avoid your cat getting spooked by someone coming in your home and the possibility of them getting out your front door. Additionally, most cats do not enjoy traveling like dogs do. If you have experienced a screaming cat in your car while taking them to the vet, you know what we’re talking about. Taking them to unfamiliar places, hotels, or homes, just means new hiding places you will have to figure out. Our cat boarding rooms are very secure. Your cat, or family of cats, will have their own kitty condo. This part of the facility is kept separate from all of our dogs. Your cat will have a great time staying with us, being well taken care of, and get the love and attention they need while you are away.
No matter the temperament of your cat or dog, our staff and facility is prepared. We know your pet will be so much happier here than staying at home alone. They will have their own private sleeping area and be supervised throughout the night. Trust us, they will be so active during the day playing and socializing, they will be more than happy to know they have a safe place to rest their head and regain their energy for the next day of fun! Make sure you call us or book online to reserve your dog or cat’s overnight accommodations. Our structured boarding area is especially popular for dogs and fills up fast. You can also take advantage of a free day of daycare so your pet can get acquainted with the facility and our trainers. This will make the transition of staying with us much easier when you have to leave town or drop them off for the day while you are at work.
